Shellac Nails by Bnails: A Hybrid of Gel & Nail Polish
What Are Shellac Nails?
Shellac is a unique nail treatment that blends traditional nail polish with the durability of gel. Applied similarly to regular polish and cured under a UV lamp, Shellac offers a high-shine finish and an endless array of design possibilities.
How to Remove Shellac Nails
- Prepare Cotton & Foil
- Trim cotton pads to fit your nails, and cut aluminum foil strips.
- Soak the Cotton
- Saturate the cotton pads with acetone.
- Apply to Nails & Wrap
- Place the acetone-soaked cotton on each nail and wrap tightly with foil.
- Wait 2–10 Minutes
- Let the acetone break down the Shellac.
- Gently Remove
- Unwrap and wipe or lightly scrape away any remaining gel polish.
- Buff if Needed
- Smooth the nail surface, if necessary.
How Long Do Shellac Nails Last?
Shellac nails maintain their glossy finish and can remain chip-free for up to 2 weeks—sometimes even 3–4 weeks, depending on individual nail growth and lifestyle. Once they start to peel, it’s time for a fresh set.

Is Shellac Bad for Your Nails?
Because Shellac is part gel and part nail polish, it doesn’t add significant length but does provide extra strength and durability. It’s generally less damaging than traditional acrylics, making it a healthier option for long-term nail care.
